Alright, first things first… It’s almost Halloween. You and your bestie need matching costumes. As fun a task as this is, also the pressure is actually kind of real.
Somehow, picking the right duo costume feels like entering a challenge. Are you going for full-on chaos? Cuteness overload? Maybe both at the same time (that’s fine, and also achievable).
This list has ideas for whatever mood you and your BFF are in. Some are cute, some are just plain funny, and honestly, some you can throw together from stuff you already have (but if you don’t, we’ll give shopping recommendations to make things easy for you).
So let’s go costume idea shopping!
Cat and Leopard
Seriously, this is for the lazy girls. Just be a black cat—find some ears, use eyeliner for whiskers, add a tail or collar if you have one. Your BFF can do a leopard look with spots, furry boots, and some quickly made ears from last year. Super easy, but still cute in pictures. No need to stress. You’ll still look put-together enough for social media.
Ladybug and A Bee
Bright red dots and big wings really make the Ladybug. The Bee gets yellow stripes, cute antenna things, and can act like she’s the cutest at the party. You’ll both be bright, fun, and maybe teach someone a random bug fact.
Georgie x Pennywise
You definitely don’t have to go anywhere near a sewer. One of you wears a yellow raincoat (fashion it into a dress), rain boots, and just look a little sad and lost. Your BFF can go all out with wild clown makeup, a red balloon, and a cute little dress. Easy and iconic!
Firefighters
Hot (sort-of-pun intended) and easy. Grab a plastic helmet, fishnet stockings, and a cute firefighter body suit. Add some sunglasses for the cool factor. You can make this as simple or extra as you want. Very cute and does the trick.
Tiana and Lottie
If you’re weirdly obsessed with Disney, do Tiana and Lottie from “The Princess and the Frog”. One friend goes green frog and tiara, the other wears about forty shades of pink and sparkles. Lottie’s entire vibe is “more glitter, please.” Bust out into Disney songs if you want.
Joker and Harley Quinn
This one’s always a hit! The Joker gets a wild green wig, suit, or temporary hair dye, and that grinning face |(go wild with your lipstick). Harley is all pigtails, red and blue, and both get temporary tattoos. You can go for the cartoon look or try the movie version. Either way, you’ll be loud, annoying, and possibly running the party. Oops.
Super Mario and Luigi
Iconic duo! Find overalls (or just a denim mini skirt), red or green tops, and matching hats. These are super comfy and instantly recognizable. If you want bonus points, get a fake mushroom or coins and toss them at anyone who says you look great.
Clueless: Cher and Dionne
This is for the ‘90s fans. Grab plaid skirts, blazers, and knee-high socks. Cher rocks yellow plaid, Dionne does black and white with a super extra hat. Don’t forget your best Valley Girl voices. Trust me, your photos will turn out so much better in these outfits.
Dumb and Dumber
Go all out in those orange and blue suits with top hats – but feel free to make it girly. Yes, you’ll draw attention. Try not to break character. Or just act clueless the whole time for a solid laugh. It’s fun and a total throwback.
Black Swan Duo
So dramatic and cool. One of you does the White Swan—feathers, soft makeup, the whole thing. The other is the Black Swan in black clothes, smoky eyes, and maybe a spiky crown. You’ll look like you came from a dance movie. Be as dramatic as you want; it just helps with the character.
Mal and Evie
If you love the Descendants, go for Mal and Evie. Mal rocks purple hair and a leather look. Evie’s a glam blue-haired fashion queen. Get wild with color, accessories, and sass. Perfect Disney Channel look, and also perfect for group selfies. Definitely edgy, definitely cute.
Batgirl x Wonder Woman
Pick Batgirl for a cool black mini dress with the iconic sign. Wonder Woman gets a red, blue, and gold outfit (maybe with that famous lasso). Super adorable, easily recognizable, and everybody loves a superhero. You’ll basically have to save everyone at some point. It just happens.
Raven & Starfire
Teen Titans besties. Raven wears dark colors, dramatic makeup, and stays mysterious. Starfire goes for purple and crazy hair. Choose drama or sunshine—either way, it’s fun. If you can do their voices, even better, but not required.
Pirates
Get pirate dresses, bandanas, and as much fake gold as you can find. One friend can be Jack Sparrow-ish, and the other a classic pirate with lots of eyeliner and a flowy skirt. Or do your own version of pirates! Bad pirate accents are basically a must-have.
Daphne and Velma
Call back to Scooby-Doo. Daphne is all purple, hairbands, green scarf, and being fancy. Velma is orange, glasses, and a bit nerdy, but still super cute. Act like you’re solving mysteries all night. Simple and nostalgic.
Minions
Yellow crop tops, blue overalls, goggles, and of course, bananas. Minions are easy, silly, and super comfy. Everyone will instantly know your costume, and you get to be weird all night. Honestly, you might just wear this every year.
Little Bo Peep & Jessie
Toy Story again! Bo Peep goes pastel, with a big toy staff and curly hair. Jessie gets the iconic cowgirl hat and “yeehaw” attitude. Wholesome and fun. Warning: Y’all might start talking like you’re in a western movie.
Prisoners
Get matching orange jumpsuits, temporary tattoos, and smug grins. Use a marker to write “BFF” and some numbers if you want. You’ll spend the night stuck together so make sure you’re cool with that before you commit. Cool and super comfy.
Thing 1 and Thing 2
Get red body suits, and stick on “Thing 1” and “Thing 2” logos. If you go wild with blue hairspray, please make sure to use the washable kind. This one is instant chaos, but super fun. Every Dr. Seuss fan will get it.
Glinda and Elphaba
If you love musicals, Glinda and Elphaba from Wicked make a statement—one pink and sparkly, one green and dramatic. Your pics will be full Broadway. No need for flying monkeys. Just lots of attitude and big hats.
Girl Cops
Blue costumes, cop hats, and fake cuffs. Cheap, simple, and you can play it cool. A plastic walkie-talkie or notepad adds extra fun. It’s a classic for a reason, and it’s perfect for goofing off together.
